About TheFlatRoofPro.com
We publish plain-English answers about flat and low-slope roofs — leaks, ponding, coatings and costs — and connect property owners with roofing contractors we've confirmed are licensed and insured.
We're a guide, not a roofer
TheFlatRoofPro.com is an independent guide and referral service. We are not a roofing contractor and we don't perform roofing work — no crews, no inspections, no installs, no repairs. We don't sell roofing services and we don't take payment for roofing jobs.
When you request quotes, we pass your request to up to three independent roofing contractors. They quote you, and any agreement is directly between you and them. Roofing work for hire generally requires a licensed roofing contractor; the rules differ by state (and sometimes by city or county), so check your state's contractor licensing board before you hire.
Our how-to guides are for owners who want to understand their roof, handle small maintenance safely, or ask a roofer better questions. They aren't a substitute for an on-site inspection, a permit where one is required, or a licensed professional.
How do we research our guides?
- Methods follow manufacturer instructions and published industry guidance for each roof system — a TPO patch isn't an EPDM patch — over anecdote. Every guide says which roof types it applies to.
- Prices are editorial estimates compiled from published contractor pricing and industry cost data. We review them quarterly and show the "updated" date on every page.
- Products are judged on chemistry and roof compatibility first, then the maker's stated coverage, cure conditions and warranty terms. We print typical price ranges, never "today's price".
- Videos are made by their creators; the summaries, key points and cautions next to them are ours.
- Every guide opens with a short, direct answer, then the detail. If something depends on your climate or roof system, we say so.
- Corrections: spot an error? Email [email protected] and we'll review it within five business days.
How do we vet roofers?
A roofer earns the Licensed badge after we look up their roofing contractor license with the state or local authority that issues it, and the Insured badge after we confirm a current general liability certificate with the insurance carrier. Verified roofers have also had their identity, business address and documents re-checked within the last 12 months. Listings we haven't checked are marked "Not yet verified". Roofers can't pay to change their badges or their position among basic listings.

How do we make money?
Through display advertising, referral fees from roofers when we match them with property owners, and affiliate commissions on some product links (as an Amazon Associate, we earn from qualifying purchases). None of these affect our cost ranges, how-to advice or product picks. Read the full advertising & affiliate disclosure.
